Does anyone watch the stars/ planets & can recommend a telescope? Not a glorified pair of binoculars, but one that can show the rings of Saturn or something clearly

Not me, go into somewhere like Bond and Bond or Dick Smith type shop, they often have them and will advise you what to look out for.

What Granny said...Dick Smith have a range of Telescopes to choose from, at reasonable prices as well...They have the beginners range right up to the more powerful ones which are dearer, but definitely money well spent if you are into stargazing and checking out that beautiful night sky...

post some space pics in our space section please anybody...i love looking at those...hope you find what you're after carohun...something i tried once , but sent the telescope back within it's if not entirely satisfied period...was like you...i want detail...not a bright speck like binnoculars can give you...i think an observatory vist , and some local stargazing clubs may be best...

Yep ::)i'm sure that is a smart move , and will save you lots of fustration in the long term.....i saw an eclipse projected through binnoculars onto a white piece of paper , and thought that was great...and the moon through good binocculars is awesome

Got a great email back from the Astronomical ppl in HB, he mentioned binoculars also Getting ahigh powered pair, being easily transported so easy for camping tramping etc, no fera of dust getting into the tricky bits, less space, rah de rah Never thought about binoculars before, so that was excellent advice Will look into it further
Do you have good binoculars like that player?

I may look into the high power binoculars...Easier then getting the telescope out and setting it up all the time...
