This is exactly the type of suggestions we are looking for. I had considered:
9 Ariki (paramount chief).
8 Rangatira
7 Kaumatua
But then I was stuck as I wasn't sure of the rankings further down. I had also considered Aotearoa, but then I must admit I prefer your suggestion of "Kairâkau", and that would mean we can keep Aotearoa for the Kingdom name.
I am working on a little story about a warrior nation who, in the time of the crusades, sailed their great Waka on a journey of discovery and conquest. While not strictly true historically, I thought I might incorporate this little section from Wiki: "in 1350 AD a ‘great fleet’ of seven canoes – Aotea, Kurahaupō, Mataatua, Tainui, Tokomaru, Te Arawa and Tākitimu – all departed from [Hawaiki] at the same time, bringing the people now known as Māori to New Zealand. These were advanced, warlike, .... tribes which included our Kairakau.

How is this as a description.
In medieval times, when Richard the Lionheart was leading the 3rd crusade, a warrior nation sailed their great waka on a voyage of conquest and discovery. A ‘great fleet’ of seven waka – Aotea, Kurahaupô, Mataatua, Tainui, Tokomaru, Te Arawa and Tâkitimu – all departed from Hawaiki at the same time, bringing the people now known as Mâori to Aotearoa. These were advanced, warlike, tribes, and the fiercest of them all included our Kairakau (band of experienced warriors). The enemy succumbed and the land was conquered.
Now we have a new conquest in our sights. Dragons, elves, orcs and even knights will cower before our advance. We will protect our friends, and smite our enemies.
Kairakau of Aotearoa.

The reset has occured and faction Kairakau has been created. Join up now. Everyone will be assigned rank 4 initially except for Sir Roadhog who will join me on 9.
I need to get to influence 10 before I can create the ranks.
