Rhythm and Vines Waiohika Estate, Gisborne December 29 - Jan 1
More than 20,000 partygoers are today converging on New Zealand's largest New Year's Eve event.
The annual Rhythm and Vines festival held at the Waiohika Estate winery in Gisborne as in its sixth year and features a raft of international and local artists, light displays and street performers.
Some big-name international acts such as Franz Ferdinand and The Kooks along with New Zealand acts such as Katchafire, Ladyhawke, The Phoenix Foundation and Shihad will share the venue's four stages.
Revellers can rock out to over 70 acts playing music ranging from rock to rap and dub to electronica.
VJ's and lighting technicians are also on site to brings the show to life through fire, lasers and LED screens
Revellers will have to put up with showers today and tomorrow but the forecast is for sun with the temperature set to reach 29 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.
Tourism Eastland chief executive Graham Breckle said they were expecting around 10,000 general holiday-makers as well as those destined for Rhythm and Vines and the town was "absolutely chocka".
Shop owners in the area had learned from past mistakes and were well stocked so as not to sell out of goods such as food, petrol and alcohol as they had in previous years, he said.

High Life New Year's Eve Experience Matakana County Park, north of Auckland December 31
Around 50 acts are booked for the High Life New Years Eve Experience being held at Matakana Country Park north of Auckland.
Party-goers can choose from bands playing music ranging from funk to soul, reggae to house.
Performers sharing the venues six stages include DJ's Moto Blanco from the UK and Jonathan Ulysses from the party island of Ibiza. Also performing are The Opensouls and Recloose.
Revellers will be treated to a fine day as the Metservice is predicting Wednesday's cloud to disappear on Thursday, to see in the new-year in style.

The Far North
Paihia and Russell are perennial favourites for those looking to head north. The Paihia I-site said there were no major concerts planned though they were having their usual fireworks display at midnight.
Rain is forecast today and tomorrow though it is expected to clear on Wednesday with fine days on Thursday and Friday.

The Coromandel
Whangamata, Whitianga and Pauanui are all extremely popular with partygoers – particularly the younger generation.
The forecast is not so good for the area with rain forecast until Wednesday and set to clear on Thursday.
Newspapers are reporting the area has been flooded by revellers though Thames Coromandel District Council spokesman Mark Ebery said there were no major events planned at any of those centres.
Mr Ebery said despite this, they were expecting over 120,000 visitors to the area over the New Year period.

Cannan Downs Festival on Takaka Hill near Nelson celebrates its twelfth anniversary this year.
Poet Sam Hunt is set to perform as well as New Zealand artists such as Little Bushman and Dimmer along with a raft of other artists.

Rockers Supergroove and Elemeno P are playing on a show at the Riwaka Hotel in Motueka.
Shapeshifter, Tiki Tane, Pacific Heights and Sunshine Soundsystem are also playing at the Hotel on the 2nd.
Partygoers here will also be favoured with fine weather with sunny days forecast between now and Thursday around Nelson area.

Queenstown's Summer Daze features popular New Zealand outfit dDub performing in the Queensland town centre on New Years Eve. Concert goers can attend the gig free of charge.
Partygoers can expect cloudy days with a high of 22 degrees between now and Friday, when rain is forecast to arrive.
