Yes &they wont get sand in all those little places, or if you are camping a telescope is too big & a bit dangerous to transport. Not to mention bringing out a telescope then going for a walk coming back to camp & finding someones taken it. Bit tricky to lock a tent & bit hard to hide a telescope.

close to the best is Meade, who also sell computers to drtive the telescopes.
Check out such as Pop.Mechanics, you can sometimes see people advertising big binnos ex KGB Border Troops. [ These require a mounting ]

what kind of courses can you do to learn about stars n shit like that? I'd love to be able to identify more than Orion's Belt and the SOuthern Cross!

I often check out the auckland observatory site.. they show whats in the sky for us to see atm Satellites etc www.stardome.org.nz/ checkout September & look around Depending where you are it tells you what time to look for things I've learnt a lot with the kids & the star charts, books etc so when we go camping its one of the favourite things to do... spot the satellites, spot the stars etc Never did buy a telescope though or binoculars
