YAY I've actually figured out how to turn my population into fighters, not lovers! Geeze I'm a bit slow... anyway they're 100% soldiers now. Might start winning a couple of battles!

Does this help you at all cherry..?
Re: Re: Re: Re: wtf is going on??? from Jantar That minus sign is only a hyphen, you can ignore that. But at this stage go for a hard attack strategy and retrain all pikemen & swordsmen to Swordmasters. Retrain Archers to either axemen or Crossbowmen.
Buy the technologies Lance formation (Increases attack by 50%.) and Shield formation (Increases defence by 50%.)
Train your Generals for leadership bonus, and buy Troops experience to increase your base attack/defence rate and to increase your score.
Buy Blacksmiths to give you an enhanced weopanary bonus.
If you can post the details of your latest unsuccessful attack I may be able to advise what would have been neccessary to win that attack. Just go to History, your attacks, and copy the details from there. This is a reply to this message: Re: Re: Re: wtf is going on??? by cherry1974 Pikeman (1/1) - 8 Knight (3/3) - 4 Swordsman (2/0) - 7 Archer (0/2) - 2 Swordmaster (3/0) - 3 Crossbowman (0/3) - 4 Axeman (2/1) - 2
Are the - signs important? any recommendations for what to do with these fellas?

OK, Xentrix has 47 pop to your 55, so you should be able to ensure that your base attack is better.
Leadership is in your favour by 14%, so you needn't worry about increasing Generals just yet.
Fortification shows you have more Rams than your opponent has walls, so again, don't spend any more money there just yet.
Weaponry is one area you are losing out. Either your opponent has the tech "Power of axe formation" (If you have more axemen than enemy knights you get +5% weaponry bonus), or more Blacksmiths. To counter this I would reccomend taking the cheaper option of increasing your blacksmiths by 14%, or buying the technologies Heavy swords (Increases attack by 100%) and Chainmail (Increases both attack and defence by 50%).

It doesn't really matter what your merchants are trading. Simply look on the trade section as a tax on traders. So the more merchants that your traders are trading with the more revenue you get. That is why it pays to trade with other Lords who have lots of merchants, The more merchants, the more income.
As a further explanation have a look at my trade details.
Merchants: 65 Economy effectiveness: 319% Bonus diamonds (yesterday): 106 Economy points (yesterday): 333 Trade Number of trades: 5 / 5 Status Value Partner Options OK 55 miki_2012 Cancel OK 65 Odaroloc Cancel OK 57 hotpepper Cancel OK 61 Judicator Cancel OK 55 kurap3ka Cancel
I receive 1 economy point for each mercahant that my trade partners have, 2 economy points for each Vassal that logs on each day, 10 economy points if my sovereing logs on, and 10 economy points for each gift received. Those economy points are then multiplied by economy effectiveness and that total is divided by 10 to determine how many additional diamonds you get for the day.

me too... am still more of a liability than an asset I suspect but I'm working on it! It helps if you return gifts to people who send you gifts - there are benefits in exchanging gifts amongst ourselves. The correct way for a gift ring to work is for everyone to send gifts to those active members directly under them. So, no, you won't receive any gifts back from those you send to, instead you receive gifts from those directly above you. I wondered why I am always sending 4 gifts to faction members below me, but often received only one or even none. Now I know. If you only have 2 gifts to send, then send them to the 2 active members imediately below you. Do not send gifts to inactive members. If you get additional gifts through Law, or have the technology "Plenty of gifts" (You get additional 2 gifts to send per day - available at University 4) then send 3 gifts to those imediately below you. 4th or more gifts can be used to pass on to faction members who may be missing out, who deserve reward, to vassals, trade partners, or to exchange in the Inn. It is to everyone's benefit to have the Plenty of gifts tech early in a round, as by giving and receiving gifts, you also increase your population by one every day.
