Anyone make their own tortilla wraps? I bought some yesterday, $5.95 for 8, bloody rip off.. so I hunted the net & found this recipe. It sounds easy enough & certainly will be a lot cheaper
Flour Tortillas Serving Size : 12
a.. 4 cups Unbleached all purpose flour b.. 2 teaspoons Salt c.. 4 teaspoons Baking powder d.. 2 tablespoons Vegetable shortening e.. 1 1/2 cups Warm water or more if needed In a large bowl, stir together the flour, salt and baking powder. With a pastry blender, a fork or your hands, gradually work in the lard or shortening until it is all incorporated. Add enough warm water to make a soft but not sticky dough. Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead for 5 minutes. Divide the dough into 1/4 cup (3 oz) portions and form them into balls. Roll each ball into a flat round about 6 inches in diameter and 1/8 inches thick. Heat a large heavy skillet over medium high heat. Place the tortillas one at a time into the dry hot skillet; cook until brown on one side, then turn and brown the other side. Remove from the skillet and keep warm in cloth towel.

Also try recipes for
Naan breads
Roti [ roll out a bit bigger ]
one that Mother Earth News had that I think was called Peasent Bread, a basic flour and water mix - better made from wholemeal or with "corse grind" flours added. Basically an thin pancake minus the eggs. Experiment and see what the mix is - it makes a good wrap, is thin and as crisp as you cook it is fried in a hot pan.

After I move to Kate's [ hopefully this weekend ], I will be able to sort through and find the M/E recipe I mentioned and will post it in here and in my thread. It is a useful one to have - I was using it for wraps before the local fast food chains had wraps on offer.
