Victory class cargo ships
Prefabricated kitset ships made in the hundreds during WW2.
Components could be made in the prarie states and railed to Great Lakes and coastal towns for assembly and launching.
An essential way to overcome the shortage of shipping and the loss to U-Boats during and after the war.
Some of these ships are still in the Strategic Reserve, just in case they are needed again.

Water tanker - used to carry bulk water to arid/thirsty regions. What ever happened to the plan to take water from Dusky Sound [ ? ] to Arabia in water tankers ? it was probably such a good idea and it would have made heaps of money , so the govt has probably sold the rights to some smart cookie for a song while pocketing the bribes paid to them....i have so much confidence in our chosen representatives

X-craft
The British midget submarines used at attack the Tirpitz, Japanese warships and also to provide inshore navigation support to allied landings. [ Would you want to park up, at the water surface in a small black boat, 200 meters of a beach being shelled and shine a light out aft so that a few thousand ships and boats can charge past you - hopefully without hitting you ? ]

Originally a Dutch design for a light weight small cargo vessel sailing the inland Dutch waterways and then mutated to the private pleasure craft of the Dutch traders, adopted by the English kings as a fast pleasure craft and the rest is history.
