About live streaming Jun 16, 2008 12:00 PM
Not been able to scrape together the airfare for Beijing? Want to be in China but going to be stuck at work when Michael Phelps goes for his record eighth gold? Perhaps you're just hoping that the niche sport that's your passion will get some airtime.
Well, now you can be sure not to miss a single moment that matters from the world's greatest sporting event.
In a first for New Zealand, tvnz.co.nz is offering you the chance to choose from up to four channels of simultaneously streaming LIVE online.
More than 800 hours of free-to-air Olympics action will be available in August, right here, from the following channels:
TV ONE: The home of the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, covering the event as a whole, and moving between individual events to take Kiwi viewers to the best action as it happens.
TVNZ Sport Extra: A temporary Olympic channel complementing the coverage on TV ONE. A must for true sports fans, it will run 24 hours a day and feature full competition sessions. This service is only available on the Freeview platform (Channel 20) and streaming at tvnz.co.nz.
tvnz.co.nz three and tvnz.co.nz four: Exclusively available online, these special Olympic channels will be offering extended-session coverage each and every day of the event. Covering a breadth of the 32 sports at the games, the chance is there to get a close up look at some of the less well-known Olympic disciplines.
"The Olympic Games is the world's largest stage, and the world's biggest television event," says TVNZ CEO Rick Ellis.
"I'm delighted that TVNZ can bring New Zealanders the whole dramatic spectacle LIVE, free-to-air, and on a choice of screens."
So whether it's the big picture from Beijing that you're after, or you want to wallow in some depth and detail , then tvnz.co.nz's LIVE streams will meet your needs.
Just come back here from 9pm on August 6, when the football competition is underway, to get a flavour of what's to come.
Can't make it to China? No worries. Be there from here.

Midday will be highlites if they don't run the news hun , almost all tv1 is NOT live...their freeview channel is apparently the best coverage(live ??)...interrupting that womens roadrace last night to play the full soccer match against Brazil never won tvnz many friends...piss/poor having the govt channel running the coverage...just shows us how they dictate what we are allowed to see....it is as bad as only having the all blacks on pay tv live...it stinks
