Cop accused of bribing prostitute A Christchurch police officer is on trial accused of bribing a prostitute for free sex by not fining her for traffic offences 10 November 2009 The Crown and defence have opened their cases against a former Christchurch police officer. Nathan Connolly is facing three charges at the High Court in Christchurch, including bribery and inducing a sexual connection by threat with a prostitute, dating back to 2006 The Crown says the 31-year-old had been paying for sex with the prostitute for some time, but she was unaware of his occupation. In 2006 Connolly pulled her over and saw that she had no registration, no warrant of fitness and was on a learners licence. The Crown says Connolly told the woman she could be facing $1,000 worth of fines. It says he did not fine her, but from then on he never paid for sex with her again. The defence says Connolly's conduct was immoral, but not criminal. The defence says Connolly's conduct was immoral, but not criminal
