In Taupo now, went through Wanganui, caught up with mamalicious and had a very nice coffee and chat before we had to head off.......... The forgotten highway is well named! But what beautiful views we had. Several times a quick request to stop for a photo opportunity was made of me Ice on the roads between National Park and Turangi, rather a lot more in the shaded areas through the forestry there also. We are in Taupo for 2 nights now instead of 1, making the most of our last few days off before we get back to the grindstone

Where we are staying is actually on the Napier - Taupo road not very far away from town, awesome views of the lake and mountains which are covered in snow, sunset tonight turned the peaks pink

I thought it might've snowed there in Pahiatua, we got some here on Sunday afternoon. Sat here with our visitors, lights off watching the little snow flurries
Where are you staying in Taupo granny? It wouldnt be by the De Bretts hot pools would it?

Sorry no caronz, but not far from the local 'Hot Water Beach' where the hot pools overflow enters the lake.
This morning the ice on my wee car was so thick, a really decent frost here this morning. No snow in Pahiatua, but plenty of sleet and a good hail storm also. Will post some pictures after tomorrow when we return home, not looking forward to this holiday ending.....
