Lichfield was the end of the line from 1886 till 1903, when the Morrinsville and Thames Valley Railway Company's remaining line from Putaruru was bought by the Taupo Totara Timber Company, and extended to Mokai, near Lake Taupo. The TTT sold out to the NZR in 1954 and the line was removed beyond Kinlieth.
Lichfield station is long gone, but the water tower of 1886 remains.

Mangapehi, between Te Kuiti and Taumaruni was the junction between the NZR and the Ellis and Bernand tramway. It had full facilities, loco shed, goods shed, sawmill and about 40 railway houses...
Now only the tracks and the north end and foundations of the station building remain.
