Northernmost rail system: Leyland o'Briien and Co had a tramway at Kaingaroa (Victoria Valley), near Kaitaia.
The railway system in Samoa was run as part of the NZR from 1917 till 1920.
Easternmost rail system was at Tolaga Bay, where the freezing works lines served the wharf.
Westernmost/southernmost was at Campbell Island, where a horse and winch line was built from the main wharf up to the small settlement on the island. It was last used in 1988, however, the NZR&LS and DoC have undertaken its preservation.
